Many people think that smoking or touching the skin directly is harmful. However, "third smoking" caused by smokers who come back from smoking may also affect their health.
Primary and secondary smoking means that you can actually smoke directly and smoke without smoking. On the other hand, the third level of smoking is exposed to cigarette particles attached to the clothes and skin of smokers, so the toxic substances of cigarettes come into contact with smokers without inhaling smoke. This is because toxic substances are transferred or piled up in the form of particles when smoking cigarettes. In fact, some studies show that if smokers enter theaters that have been operating as non-smoking areas for 15 years, the concentration of toxic substances related to cigarettes such as benzene formaldehyde acrolein in the air will increase. According to the results of the study, the concentration of toxic substances decreased over time, but did not completely disappear.
Those who spend more time indoors with smokers, such as family members and colleagues, are more likely to suffer from third-degree smoking. In particular, tertiary smoking is even more dangerous for children. This is because young children have weaker respiratory organs than adults and have frequent contact with their parents' hair and clothes. Smaller children are more affected by the toxic substances of cigarettes that enter the body, which can interfere with brain development and growth. In addition, infants may experience respiratory infections and asthma when exposed to tertiary smoking.
There is only one way to prevent tertiary smoking: quitting smoking. Even if you enter the room and ventilate, harmful substances from cigarettes on your hair, body and clothes remain for a long time. If you cannot quit smoking, you must enter the room at least two hours after smoking. If you are a non-smoker, you should change your clothes immediately to minimize smoking space and contact with smokers.
