The World Health Organization (WHO) said the causal relationship between AstraZeneca (AZ) COVID-19 vaccine and blood clots "is considered valid, but has not been confirmed."
AFP reported on the 7th (local time) that the COVID-19 subcommittee of the WHO Advisory Committee on Vaccine Safety (GACVS) issued a statement, saying, "Professional research is needed to fully understand the potential relationship between vaccines and risk factors."
Thrombosis is a phenomenon caused by blood clotting in blood vessels. Thrombosis can be accompanied by various symptoms such as myocardial infarction or cerebral thrombosis depending on where it occurs.
According to AZ, 37 (0.0002%) of the 17 million EU and UK inoculations had blood clots after inoculation.
In response, the WHO stressed that "thrombosis is a 'very rare' side effect."
"We believe that the balance of benefits and risks is very advantageous for vaccines. Nothing has changed in our advice. He explained, "Continue vaccination."
