Have you ever imagined an ice cup that doesn't need a straw? GS25 is attracting attention by introducing these products as an extension of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management practices. As straws are considered one of the causes of environmental pollution, this news is significant. Convenience store ice cups inevitably functioned as a cause of increasing straw usage due to the structural characteristics that require straws.
GS25 has been working with its partners for more than a year for this product. The company explained that various adjustments were needed in the manufacturing process to prevent the beverage from leaking because it had to be sold with the lid combined after putting ice in it! In addition, considering last year's ice cup sales, the launch is expected to reduce up to 100 million straws per year as well as reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 300 tons.
