According to the World Health Organization (WHO), "health is not only a disease-free, not weak, but also a complete physical, mental, social and mental state." In the past, physical and mental health has been emphasized, but recently, by adding social and mental health, health has been clearly defined as good in many ways.
Human life span is proportional to the development of biomedical science. Compared to the poor and unhygienic times, the life span of the rich and biomedical age has increased incomparably.
In the case of Unara, the age of 26.3 was extended from 52.3 years old in 1960 to 75.9 years old in 2000, and in 2006, she was 79.1 years old, which is already a long-lived country. The reason for this is believed to be that the industrial society has implemented policies to eliminate wealth from poverty in agricultural society.
By the way, what is the healthy life expectancy in Japan?
Korea's average life expectancy has narrowed to 3.3 years from Japan (82.4 years), which has the longest life expectancy, but its healthy life expectancy was 63.5 years in 2008, 7.5 years from Japan (77.0 years). In the end, he has to take care of the hospital for 7.5 years, so he cannot get out of his backwardness. Therefore, the importance of health education is highlighted.
The purpose of health education is to encourage people to accept and maintain healthy lives and to encourage individuals and groups to make their own decisions and improve their health and environment so that they can use and accept effective health services and services wisely. To achieve this goal, the U.S. has already recognized the qualifications of middle and high school health educators in the government in 1970, and conducted an examination to certify professional education professionals (CHES) in 1990. As of 2009, more than 20,000 health educators are active. In the case of Japan, health educators are used in public health centers, private organizations, and industrial centers under the slogan of "National Health Promotion Movement and Equal Health" with the aim of establishing a non-profit organization in 2003.
In recognition of the need for health education, the National Health Promotion Act was revised through tireless efforts by related organizations, and the national health education system was announced on December 31, 2008. It must be a real blessing.
Such a system must have its meaning and purpose in order for us to live long and healthy lives. Today, an increasing number of people are suffering from chronic diseases such as high blood pressure, arthritis, diabetes, and cancer. Furthermore, at a time when environmental diseases such as atopy, which is a problem for young children, are exploding, it is necessary to introduce a management system that can effectively prevent them.
The global medical trend is changing now. If 20th century medicine was centered on healers, 21st century medicine is centered on patients. In other words, if medical expenses were huge in the past from the perspective of medical treatment such as drugs and surgery, it is now focusing on natural medicine, which can reduce medical expenses as much as possible and pursue happiness. Therefore, not only medical personnel such as doctors, pharmacists, and nurses, but also everyone engaged in health promotion, such as health educators, was needed.
Health educators should participate in national health promotion projects according to the policy direction of the national health promotion project, analyze not only policies but also examples, develop necessary programs, and do what is necessary to improve the happiness index of the people.
In this respect, the government should utilize health educators as follows.
First, public institutions, educational institutions, and industrial organizations should employ health educators who are qualified as professionals in national health promotion projects.
Secondly, organizations such as the Health Education Professional Association should be established to provide maintenance education, administrative qualification management and academic research to improve their qualifications.
This is because it is an alternative to prolonging the healthy life of the Republic of Korea in the 21st century.
