Predicting the future is a valuable task because by doing so, you can prepare for future risks and prepare strategies to create a better future by thinking about what the future will look like in advance.
One field of study that needs prediction is public healthโwhat will happen to the future of inequality and disparity, which one of our social challenges? The rapid growth of Korean society inevitably increased the imbalance and gap in the health status of citizens. If this continues, inequality, polarization, and imbalance are expected to intensify. While inequality and the gap are increasing, it is also a big problem that not a lot of people are interested in reducing the inequality and health disparity.
It is necessary to find a whole new solution to realize a warm community where everyone is happy and address inequality and gaps. To this end, first of all, it is necessary to properly understand the flow and characteristics of inequality and disparity. In the history of rapid economic growth, inequality and gap also occurred first in most economic aspects. Asset inequality, income inequality, housing inequality, wage inequality, and labor inequality are specific examples. In recent years, new forms of inequality are also spreading. Education inequality and health inequality are typical phenomena.
How will the inequality and gap in our society develop in the future? Simply put, it seems that it can be divided into three categories: income inequality, health inequality, and education inequality. Each of these can be said to be a representative of economic, physical, and mental inequality. Income inequality is an inequality that appears as a result of individual economic activities, while health inequality is an inequality related to each individual's body and education.
Since it is about the body and mind that each individual can control himself, health inequality and education inequality may be relatively easy to solve compared to income inequality. If so, the best way to solve inequality and gap is naturally derived. It focuses on resolving health inequality and educational inequality, which are relatively easy to solve.
First of all, health. Everyone knows that health is important, but most of them do not take care of health properly for various reasons. We should set national health as the top priority and actively carry out health promotion campaigns. We should make physical education a top priority in school and allocate the most class time. Moreover, we should set the top policy task of all local governments as citizen health and compete in good faith.
Next is education. Let all students get the best public education that suits them regardless of their home environment. Let's establish a new national lifelong education system so that the incumbent and the elderly can continue to receive the education they want. Let's create a system that actively supports the entire nation to develop their capabilities and talents. What will happen if inequality in health and education is eliminated through these activities? All citizens, whether they live well or not, will have a healthy body and competitive capabilities. Then, based on this, the possibility that each person will live the life they want and achieve the dream they want increases proportionally.
In this regard, resolving health inequality and educational inequality is the key to creating a community society where everyone is happy while resolving income inequality. It seems so easy and natural, but intensive investment in people's health and education can be the best solution to address the inequality and gap in our society, which seems impossible.
