Losing Weight in a Healthy Way: Drinking Tea

Drinking tea steadily is good for loosing weight in a healthy way. This is because drinking water can cause a feeling of fullness and excrete waste matter through urine, which is effective for weight loss. Kombu tea, hibiscus tea, burdock tea, and puer tea are said to help you lose weight. How can I drink these four kinds of tea?

Kombucha

Kombucha is a beverage made by fermenting green tea or tea extract containing sugar with yeast. Scoby bacteria, also known as "tea mushrooms," are grown in tea water, but carbonic acid and healthy beneficial bacteria are naturally produced during fermentation. It is characterized by the refreshing feeling of carbonic acid and the sweet smell of vinegar. Since it is low in calories and is effective for dieting, it is recommended to drink it instead of soda and fruit juice.

- Efficacy: Gluconic acid contained in kombucha helps detoxify the liver. A study showing this was published in the journal Biomedical and Environmental Sciences in 2001. The researchers confirmed that mice had an anti-stress effect and hepatocyte regeneration effect after 15 days of administration of the kombucha. In addition, green tea-fermented kombucha is rich in polyphenols, which is effective for weight loss and blood sugar control.

- Caution: Conbuta contains alcohol and caffeine, so children and pregnant women should not drink it as much as possible. In addition, if you have chronic diseases in your kidneys or lungs, you should pay attention to the intake because the acid contained in the kelp can strain your kidneys or lungs. Because kombucha is a fermented food, it is easily contaminated and must be carefully managed. If you want to make kombucha at home, you have to use glass containers instead of ceramic or plastic containers.

Hibiscus tea

Hibiscus tea, which Cleopatra drank to maintain her beauty and youth, is a herbal tea made from hibiscus and has a sweet and sour taste similar to cranberries. Hibiscus is effective in reducing weight loss by reducing carbohydrate metabolism and reducing appetite. Furthermore, the diuretic action is excellent and wastes in the body are smoothly discharged. It also contains hydroxycitric acid (HCA), which inhibits fat synthesis and absorption, which is useful for dieting.

- Effect: Hibiscus tea is rich in vitamins. "It contains vitamin C, vitamin A, and antioxidant anthocyanin, which helps to suppress active oxygen in the body and boost immunity," said Woo Ji-hee, a nutritionist at Hydak Nutrition Consultation. Hibiscus is also effective in controlling blood pressure and helps relieve stress and cleanse the skin.

- Note: You should drink Hibiscus tea within five cups a day. Because of its cold nature, drinking too much can cause abdominal pain and diarrhea.

Burdock tea

The burdock is called "the treasure of the earth" and "the mountain ginseng of the sandbox." According to Donguibogan, burdock removes toxins from the five organs, makes fat people lose their taste buds, and removes swelling and helps digestion. Furthermore, burdock-rich fiber stimulates bowel movements and helps promote bowel movements. The burdock is low in calories at about 72 kcal per 100 grams, making it ideal for dieting.

- Effects: Inulin component of burdock improves kidney function and helps diuretic effect. It's better to drink burdock with tea because it doesn't peel the nutritious skin when you drink it. Saponin in burdock bark helps to drain blood vessel cholesterol and boost immune function. Lim Chae-young, a nutritionist at Hydak Nutrition Consultation, added, "The burdock is rich in vitamins and minerals, which helps prevent diabetes-related complications."

- Caution: You should not drink more than 2L of burdock tea a day. This is because it promotes diuretic action and can cause dehydration when overdosed.

Puer tea

Puer tea, one of the world's top 10 tea names, is fermented tea after being enjoyed by ethnic minorities in Yunnan Province, China. Poual tea, which is soft and has a subtle taste, is effective in losing weight because of its lipolysis power. Kim Young-sun, a nutritionist at Hydak Nutrition Consultation, said, "The kudzu acid contained in the boycha prevents lipase from coming out of the pancreas, prevents fat from accumulating in the body, and promotes metabolism." In other words, it can easily burn calories, increase the effect of dieting, and prevent obesity.

- Effect: This tea is effective for alcohol decomposition and is good for inflammation, and it removes active oxygen in blood vessels, which is good for blood vessel health. In addition, the rich vitamin C component of Puer tea is effective in aging and improving wrinkles.

- CAUTION: Excessive intake of puer tea may cause side effects such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, and stomach cramps. Also, since Puer tea has a high caffeine content, people who are sensitive to caffeine should refrain from taking it. The shorter the fermentation period of puer tea, the higher the caffeine content. A cup of puer tea made from raw young tea contains about 30 mg of caffein.
