Music During the War

Though art often played a positive role during the warfare, it wasn’t for all cases. Music, which is another form of art, often gave a negative impact on international crises including war. According to BBC news, the public displays of support for Nazism frequently involved music. This means that the music was used as propaganda to make people support radicalism and war. The news further claims that during Second World War, Hitler’s favorite composer was Richard Wagner, who used music to convey a sense of supremacy over the Jews. Hitler also forced people to only listen to German music and referred to jazz music as ‘Negro music’. This kind of action stimulated further conflict between people and made them advocate for political division during WWII. Moreover, because the music was used as a mechanism to cause conflict between different ethnic groups, it also deteriorated the peaceful mood in that period. Thus, music sometimes brought negative impacts during wartime.
