As the revision of the Enforcement Rules of the Ministry of Environment's Resource Recycling Act takes effect on November 24, coffee shops such as cafes cannot use plastic straws and stirring sticks. Plastic straws are one of the main causes of environmental pollution and microplastics, with 10 billion consumed annually in Korea alone and 70 million consumed a day.
However, in order to return plastic straws, which are difficult to recycle, huge processing costs and new pollution will occur, and even if they are decomposed, they will remain microplastics. Accordingly, Eco-Amiga (CEO Kim Byung-yeol), which developed a "natural straw that returns to nature as soon as it is thrown away," announced on the 24th that it plans to sell a non-face-to-face electric sterilization straw dispenser that can be sanitized and sterilized at all times even when eco-friendly straws are stored.
Kim Byung-yeol, CEO of Eco-Amiga, said, "Paper straws are also disposable straws and individually packaged, so unnecessary packaging waste is still generated," adding, "We hope you will pay a lot of attention to reed straws that can be used as nature and dispensers that can keep this straw sterilized."
On the other hand, Eco-Amiga is being chosen by consumers who want to practice environmental protection by researching natural straw, an eco-friendly product that can be produced indefinitely and can return to nature within a short period of time, starting in 2020. Among them, reed straws and wheat straw are differentiated products with both patents and trademarks registered.
