The 77th Oral Health Day and Oral Health Week, the largest dental festivals of the year, will begin. The dental community will participate in various events not only for members but also for citizens during Oral Health Week, which starts on June 9 and runs until June 15. Its goal is to strengthen the solidarity of its members, raise the status of the dental community, and emphasize the importance of oral health to citizens again. In particular, as the COVID-19 prevention guidelines have been eased this year and various events that have been shrinking for the past two years are growing, the interest of members and citizens on Oral Health Day is increasing more than ever.
The Ministry of Health and Welfare will hold a ceremony commemorating Oral Health Day at the Seoul Post Tower on June 9. The event, sponsored by dental associations, will be attended by a large number of people from both inside and outside the dental community to share their intention to improve national oral health.
The Ministry of Health and Welfare also announced plans to run an experience booth with dental associations and related organizations during Oral Health Week and launch various SNS campaigns. In addition, the 4th Oral Health Support Team, which was launched on May 23, will conduct various online and offline promotions, including oral health management education.
A campaign song contest for Oral Health Day was also held. The field is a creative sound source or video containing mouth management methods that can be practiced from infantile movements to adults and the elderly. The application period is from May 25 to June 24. Inquiries can be made at the Korea Health Promotion and Development Institute (www.khealth.or.kr).
In line with the activities of the dental association and the Ministry of Health and Welfare, city and provincial branches across the country are preparing various unity events for members. The move is aimed at opening a forum for communication that has been cut off due to COVID-19 for the past two years. In addition, the government is making every effort to prepare for events such as oral health awareness improvement education for local residents, public contests, tooth training contests, and commemorative ceremonies.
The Gangwon branch (Chairman Byun Eun-rae, in order of Canada) will post a banner commemorating Oral Health Day from June 7 to 12 at two to four branches, including Wonju, Gangneung, Chuncheon, Sokcho, Samcheok, Hongcheon, and Cheorwon. In May, students from elementary, middle and high schools in Gangwon Province will be screened and awarded the "2022 Oral Health Webtoon and Poster Contest."
Gyeonggi Branch (Chairman Choi Yoo-sung) will hold the 77th Oral Health Day Ceremony and Oral Health Award Ceremony at Suwon Courtyard Marriott Lake Park Ballroom on June 9, the day of Oral Health Day. The event will feature excellent oral health works such as composition, painting, acrostic poem, toothpaste video, dental photography, and a dental love UCC contest.
The Gwangju branch (Chairman Hyun Min-woo) will hold an oral health campaign for Gwangju citizens on June 12, but some of the original oral health events, including the selection of healthy teeth students and awards ceremonies, will be postponed until the second half of this year. On July 1, a "Dental Night" will also be held for members. Through the event, they plan to deepen their friendship and open a place for communication among members who have been estranged from each other.
The Daegu branch (Chairman Lee Ki-ho) will hold the 77th Oral Health Day Ceremony on June 9 and hold a dental composition contest and a contest to select the elderly with good teeth. In late June, a professional baseball game and a souvenir presentation event are also scheduled to be held to harmonize members and dental families. On June 9, the Seoul branch (Chairman Kim Min-gyeom) will hold the 77th Oral Health Day Ceremony with the Seoul Dental Association at the Citizens' Office Taihei Hall on B2 of Seoul City Hall. The ceremony will include a UCC contest, tooth drawing, and acrostic poems related to oral health. In addition, an online quiz event on oral health will be held until June 9.
The Ulsan branch (Chairman Huh Young-soo) will hold the Ulsan Metropolitan Dental Association Academic Conference and Equipment Exhibition at the Gyeongju Commodore Hotel from June 11 to 12. The Jeju branch (Chairman Jang Eun-sik) will hold the Oral Health Day ceremony at the branch hall on June 11. There will also be a small concert and a wine garden party for the members.
In addition, the North Gyeongsang Province, South Jeolla Province, North Chungcheong Province, South Chungcheong Province, and public offices are expected to celebrate Oral Health Day by supporting branch events instead of branch events until May 24. However, this may change due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection and the circumstances of the branch office.
