Nowon-gu, Seoul, will provide 6,000 senior citizens with jobs next year.
The number of senior citizens aged 65 or older living in Nowon-gu is about 113,000 (as of the end of 2021), the third largest among autonomous districts in Seoul. In order to provide sustainable jobs for the elderly, Nowon-gu plans to provide jobs to 4,293 people in a total of 84 projects next year and increase the number to 6,000.
Applications for the "2023 Senior Job Project" will be accepted from December 1 to 14. Some projects, such as those aged 65 or older living in Nowon-gu and support for learning assistance in educational facilities, can also be participated by those aged 60 or older.
First, 3,534 people will be recruited in the field of public interest activities. He works as a senior volunteer group (non-care), school zone transportation support, and elementary school meal helper. The average activity period is 11 months, and 270,000 won is paid for 30 hours of work per month.
The social service-type project, which will be expanded next year, will provide 431 jobs. It is a project to utilize elderly manpower in areas in need of social help, such as elementary school child care projects and support for welfare facilities for the disabled and the elderly. The activity period is 10 months, and 594,000 won will be paid for 60 hours of work per month, and a separate allowance will be paid.
Market-type projects (328 people) include lunch box cooking sales and delivery, and the period and conditions vary depending on the labor contract.
While this is just the start, it still is a huge step forward; as always, starting is alwasy the most hardest part. AS Nowon-gu has started to prioritize senior citizen's work opportunity, other can follow.
