Foreign media reported that the woman who ignored the Qatar government's warning and exposed her chest in public facilities could be imprisoned.
Argentina won the 2022 Qatar World Cup final at Rousail Stadium in Rousail, Qatar, 4-2 in a penalty shootout after drawing 3-3 for 120 minutes.
As soon as Argentina's victory was confirmed, TV cameras gathered in the stands and took pictures of delighted Argentine fans, and a woman at the front was seen cheering with her top off.
British media Daily Mail reported, "An Argentine female fan took off her top to celebrate her dramatic victory, and she is on the verge of imprisonment in Qatar."
According to the media, the Qatar Tourism Board announced to visitors ahead of the tournament, "We hope that not only men but also women will respect Qatar's local culture by avoiding overly exposed costumes in public."
In Qatar, an Arab country, women are banned from wearing tight or revealing clothes. For this reason, female tourists who visited Qatar for the World Cup were also advised to wear skirts and pants that cover their knees while prohibiting exposure to their chest and shoulders.
The media feared that an Argentine female fan who exposed her upper body could go to prison because of the Qatar government's strict dress code.
