True Friend

Benjamin Franklin said, “a true friend is the best possession”. I partially agree with this statement because there are situations that this quote truly works, and situations that this quote does not work. Firstly, this quote is true when we think about what friends can offer. A true friend can offer great happiness just by staying and having a conversation together. When a person is in a sad mood, his or her true friend can offer a great console, and some practical assist as well. Even with money or reputation, a person can’t have true happiness or emotional console without a true friend. Therefore, a true friend is the best possession in this sense.

However, we sometimes do not have a clear standard for regarding someone as a true friend. Many people confront a conflict with their friends in front of money. For example, almost half of the people whom I witnessed had dept after they stand surety for their true friends. In this sense, a true friend never can be the best possession. Moreover, one person had to confront a difficult situation after he told his secrete to his friends. While he thought he only talked about his secrete in front of his best friends, everyone started to get an idea about his secrete. Therefore, what he considered as “true friend” wasn’t actually a true friend. Thus, we never know when we can consider someone a true friend or not.
